Although
our larger molds (listed above) can be used in any of the ways mentioned
on this site, they are primarily used as garden accents and therefore are
given special consideration here.

| Tell
me about concrete mix. |
|
Concrete is a blend of sand and cement. You can buy it already mixed dry
in the same bag.
Instructions will tell how to and how much water to add to get a thick
mix.
We do our mixing in a plastic bag when we want to make just one. It saves
a lot of mess.

| Can
you walk on the stepping stones? |
|
All stones placed on the ground must be put in a bed of sand.
A stone or and uneven base will surely result in breakage.
|
| |
|

|
| |
| For
indoor or outdoor use stepping stones can be painted with acrylic paints
and sprayed with |
| three
coats of a protective sealant. |
| |
| If
you prefer not to detail the design, paint the entire surface with
latex or acrylic paint and use a dry-brush technique to highlight the
raised areas with gold/bronze. |
| You
might try using a sponge to add a variety of colours to leaves – no
brush needed. |
| |
|
You
can buy small packets of colour at the hardware/lumber store or at
hobby/craft stores and add these 'washes' directly to the concrete mix --
or -- Instead of plain water to mix the concrete, why not mix, half and
half with a favourite color of Latex paint. It must be latex or be
described as water soluble.

  |
| The
empty-centred stones allow for your creativity again as, on the finished
stone. |
| You
might want to place an object of art or significance there for display - a
circle of friends, large candle, flowerpot, lantern - any item of statuary
that is of particular interest to you or your family. |
| |
| During
the making of the stone the empty centre provides a space for a
child’s hand print, a horseshoe, a brass house number, stained glass
work, broken pottery, ceramic mosaic pieces, rocks/pebble/shells or
natural leaves which when decomposed will leave their imprint. |

While
not a craft, the creative placement of a stone, hanging on a shed,
fence or brick wall, propped up on a stand in the corner of the garden
would bring pleasure to those coming upon them.
Any pathway, area or surface
using ButterCups becomes a source of pleasure that you and others can
enjoy for years.
Is this a craft or is it just a
labour of love?
